What Is TMI Tuesday?

TMI Tuesday is a series of questions generated by TMI Tuesday Blog. It is a great way to meet other bloggers and to share some thoughts and experiences. It is important to remember that there are no right or wrong answers to these questions, only the answers of the author –  and that’s part of what makes this tag so awesome!

Send Us Your Questions!

Do you have something you’ve been itching to ask? Maybe something food-related, something a little bit kinky or something completely random? Have fun with it, then be sure to check back next Tuesday for our answers!

Your questions will be answered by BOTH of us, unless addressed otherwise. You can leave your questions in the comments below or, if you prefer anonymity, you can email us at

And now onto today’s questions, with special thanks to Corrupting Mrs Jones!

1. What was the best part of your holiday season?

I think for me, just having Christmas dinner with my family. It sounds so trivial, but after the year we’ve all had, it was a relief. It was just my mother, my brother, Matt’s Dad, Matt and me, but to be honest that was all we needed. I’m a right sentimental person around Christmas time, so what matters to me is the people, not the food, gifts etc.

2. Did you have the opportunity to get down and dirty over the holidays? Please share.

Haha.. I mean, there’s a chance that some post-coitus wings and pizza might have happened 😉 nothing has been what it used to be in several months though, because of lockdown. Matt and I have been generally pretty close, but the other stuff feels really weird. It’s strange when your partner is nice to you until 7:59pm, then suddenly turns into a bossy asshole at 8pm! So yeah, although we may or may not have made the beast with two backs, it hasn’t been anything kinky per se.

3. You receive a gift from a family member that is exactly what you DID NOT want. Do you:
a. Smile politely and bin it at the first opportunity?
b. Say thank you and re-gift it next year?
c. Do some detective work and return it at the first opportunity?
d. Try and tactfully suggest something more appropriate for next time?

Oh my goodness, okay, so this has happened a few times, and there is one person, the same person who will be the culprit for Matt, I’m sure – Matt’s Dad. I can remember the year he gave me a spotty fluffy pink dressing down, it was so awkward because it was a size 8, and I am definitely, definitely not a size 8. Even at my slimmest, I was a size 12, but I was a size 16 at the time – it would have pretty much covered my arse, and not a lot more than that!

What do I do with them when it happens? Kind of B, and also D. I’m on the Olio network, so if I have something I don’t want, it just goes on there. Our flat is so small, we really don’t have the room to keep stuff until next Christmas. I also try and suggest things to Matt’s Dad if I can, but it’s not always a success. I tried to gently nudge him into buying me a Dove gift set for Christmas just gone as they’re cheap and I always use Dove, but he got confused and bought me Nivea instead. Hopefully it also has a nice, neutral fragrance anyway, but I’ve always been a Dove girl!

4. Sex toys as gifts yea or nay? Was there a time when you unexpectedly opened something R-rated in front of your family? Tell us about it.

I bought a few cheeky little things for Matt for Christmas, so I see absolutely no harm in it! I think it all depends on your relationship. If you have a good, solid relationship, it can raise a smile amd obviously (hopefully!) spice things up. If not, it can be awkward and embarrassing. As for R-rated in front of the family? That has fortunately never happened. Matt and I have a gift swap of our own on Christmas morning, then another one with family on Christmas afternoon. Anything R-rated gets opened when it’s just the two of us.

5. What is the best present your significant other has given you?

Oh my goodness. My rose lamp? Maybe the bee hotel he got me this Christmas just gone? Matt is so thoughtful, I couldn’t choose one! Okay, so since this question doesn’t specifically say Christmas, I’m going to say the potted rose. The reason? “Cut roses die off, but this one will last like our love”. I’m done for!

Bonus:  Share your New Year’s resolution(s) or reasons why you do not make them.

Normally, I say I’m not going to make one for the simple reason that, like most people, I tell myself that I will lose weight and like most people, every year I have given up by February. This year though, I made two New Year’s resolutions, and not one mentions my weight.

The first? I’m allowing myself to be “good enough”. As a housewife, there is such an expectation on being perfect- on looking good, on having a perfect home, on having a perfect body and a perfect marriage, and it’s simply not possible. Instead, I’m allowing myself to do a bit each day and working towards my goals, and no more than that.

Secondly, I’m putting me back on the agenda. I’m not ashamed to admit it, my self-care routine until now was terrible. I was having showers once a week and sink washes everyday because I was too rushed to properly care for myself. My face didn’t know what moisturiser was and I was wearing clothes with holes in because as long as they covered what was important, I didn’t need to look good to run the home.

Not anymore!

As a blogger, I remind myself that it’s paramount that I at least look respectable. I have no plans to get rich and famous, but if I am identified, I at least don’t want to be seen with grubby clothes and dry, messy hair! I started working out, but then I did some research and I learned that working out might actually be worse for me than I thought. Now, I’m eating better, managing my time better and getting more active. Oh, and I’m treating me! I recently got into tissue masks and gua sha massage, I invested in a foot spa to relieve my tired and aching feet and bought myself a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, rather than my bog standard, budget-friendly 2-in-1 shampoo. I also bought myself (okay, so I was going to buy it, but my Mum paid for it for me instead!) a powder-blue, fluffy knitted jumper because I’m kind of fed up of that constant, on-the-go hoodie look. Finally, I treated myself to a Vitamin C & hyaluronic acid skin serum today because I have some pitted acne scars from my cystic acne days, and naturally I want them gone. None of these are expensive treatments, but they are taking an hour or two to putt what’s most important first – me!

Alright lovelies, I hope you enjoyed today’s post. Don’t forget, if you have any questions for us for next time, leave them down below or drop us an email!

Until next time,

Stay safe & have fun,

Helen xx
